Introduction

New Cross Christian Centre uses personal data about living individuals for the purpose of general church administration and communication.

New Cross Christian Centre recognises the importance of the correct and lawful treatment of personal data. All personal data, whether it is held on paper, on computer or other media, will be subject to the appropriate legal safeguards as specified in the General Data Protection Regulation 2017.

New Cross Christian Centre fully endorses and adheres to the eight principles of the GDPR. The Leadership of New Cross Christian Centre (or “the Church”) is the data controller (contact details below). This means that it individual decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data.

We collect personal information each time you are in contact with us. For example, when you:

  • Register your details and your family details, at our website or via an embedded form on our website or social media
  • Make a donation, by completion of offering envelopes, text, via our website or electronic means;
  • Register for a conference or other Church event;
  • Provide your contact details, in writing or orally, to Church staff or volunteers;
  • Purchase goods or services, including when you provide credit or debit card details;
  • When you attend church services or participate in other Church activities;
  • Communicate with the Church by means such as email, letter, telephone;
  • Face to face meetings with staff and volunteers;
  • Access social media platforms

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes: –

  • The day-to-day administration of the church; e.g. pastoral care and oversight including calls and visits, preparation of ministry rotas, maintaining financial records of giving for audit and tax purposes.
  • To fundraise and promote the interests of the Church.
  • To manage our employees and volunteers.
  • To maintain our own financial accounts and records (including the processing of gift aid applications when and where applicable)
  • To provide news and information about events, activities and services running at the Church.
  • To enable the Church to provide voluntary services for the benefit of the public in our local community.
  • To provide contact details of officers and others with specific responsibilities (eg DBS signatories) to the trustees.
  • Contacting you to keep you informed of church services, activities, resources and events.
  • Statistical analysis; gaining a better understanding of church demographics.
    N.B. although collated church data may be passed to a third party, such as number of small groups or small group’s attendance, no personal data will be disclosed.

How Your Information Is Shared

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with other members of the Church in order to carry out a service to other church members or for purposes connected with the Church. We will only share your data with third parties with your consent.

New Cross Christian Centre will treat all your personal information as private and confidential and not disclose any data about you to anyone other than the leadership and ministry overseers/co-coordinators of the church in order to facilitate the administration and day-to-day ministry of the church.
All New Cross Christian Centre Church staff and volunteers who have access to Personal Data will be required to agree to sign a Confidentiality Policy and a Data Protection Policy.

There are four exceptional circumstances to the above permitted by law:

  • 1.Where we are legally compelled to do so.
  • 2.Where there is a duty to the public to disclose.
  • 3.Where disclosure is required to protect your interest.
  • 4.Where disclosure is made at your request or with your consent

Internet Services

New Cross Christian Centre owns one website: http://www.newcrosschristiancentre.com which has associated social media accounts and a church WhatsApp group.

In each case, services collect anonymous information about users’ activity on the sites, for example the number of users viewing each page. This is to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the sites and help New Cross Christian Centre improve them. No other use is made of this information by New Cross Christian Centre.

If you wish to interact with New Cross Christian Centre’s sites, social media or receive email notifications of updates, you will need to register some details first. Each of these platforms including WhatsApp have their own Privacy Notices and data policies which you are advised to consult.

When Your Information Changes

Please inform New Cross Christian Centre in writing immediately if any of the information you have previously provided changes or needs updating or if you suspect New Cross Christian Centre holds out-of-date information.

New Cross Christian Centre will update all records at the first opportunity, and within no longer than a month of notification unless there is good reason for delay. In such cases, the reason for delay will be explained in writing to the individual making the request.

How Long Your Information Is Kept

New Cross Christian Centre does not retain any of your information once it is no longer needed for the reasons for which it was collected, unless it is needed in order to comply with a statutory or other legal requirement.

Further Processing

If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice, then we will provide you with a new notice explaining this new use prior to commencing the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions. Where and whenever necessary, we will seek your prior consent to the new processing.

Rights To Access Information

Employees and other subjects of personal data held by New Cross Christian Centre have the right to access any personal data that is being held in certain manual filing systems. This right is subject to certain exemptions: Personal Information may be withheld if the information relates to another individual.
